Whiteline Project EVO VIII is a road race hybrid optimised for weekend
motorsport while still being useable mid week. Owned by Martin Notaras,
the vehicle was bought new and being an RS spec its ideally suited for
this job.
Our connection started with the
Dutton
Rally and Project EVO was prepared for the 2004 event featuring
Whiteline's adjustable coil-overs. These were complimented by a
Handling Pack utilising adjustable front and rear swaybars, adjustable
camber kits and other Ugly Bits. A full kit of parts is now available so
contact us for more details while we finalise the details for publishing.
Martin Notaras is a self confessed car fanatic. In his own words:
"I started racing dirt bikes in 1983 at the age of 14. My rise through
the ranks was swift and I was soon a member of the Kawasaki West Racing
Team. I proceeded to win 7 Australian titles and over 40 state titles, I
then progressed to road bikes. After 11 years of bike racing I retired
briefly before I started successfully competing in small car club events
driving a Mitsubishi Evolution III."
"In 2003 I raced in the ACT Hill Climb series placing 3rd and a round of
the NSW State Championships where I not only won my class but I also set
the lap record which still stands unbeaten."
"In 2003 and 2004 I competed in the Grand Prix Rally, one of Australia's
longest running and most recognised road rallies. The car was our Lancer
EVO III, bought new and significantly modified for racing with full cage,
Ralliart engine mods and KYB adjustable suspension. "
"It's a tremendous event with a great mix of fun, competition and
excitement as it travels 1200 kilometres across the best of the Victorian
countryside on its way to the Fosters Australian Formula One Grand
Prix,..." "...before finishing with the traditional lap of honour and
podium presentation on the Albert Park Grand Prix circuit."
" Since its inception back in 1998 the Grand Prix Rally has
established, itself as a must-do event for enthusiasts from across
Australia and often attracts motoring and other celebrities. Past
competitors have included Peter Brock, Norm Beechey, Kieren Perkins, Daryl
Beattie, Neal and Rick Bates and Bob Holden."
Achieving the following results:
- 2003: Out of 130 competitors including the likes of Peter Brock, I
finished 2nd in my class and 15th outright.
- 2004: Out of 115 competitors I placed 3rd outright 3rd in special
test 3rd in speed events and 2nd in the modern category.
Throughout my years of racing I have always maintained a hands on
approach when it comes to setting up and maintaining my racing vehicles.
As a result I have through experience, interest and devotion, established
a sound understanding for the mechanics.
