Project FOCUS ST170P-REX
I The Ford Focus has been a fast four performance stalwart for a number of years. Its a very good chassis crying out for more power, so Fast Fours magazine got a car and started playing. They asked Whiteline for some help with the suspension and so project Focus ST170 was created. The list of planned modifications was extensive and included the usual upgrades plus a nitrous system. You can read about it at www.fastfoursvip.com or click on the article links to the right. Whitelines first step was to create a Handling Pack and Sports Pack to cover the key areas of handling, dynamics and looks. A coil-over kit was developed and helped propel the Focus to the top of the "most wanted to drive" list amongst the magazine staff. To quote the editor Mark Hanna: "There's this roundabout I come down into when you come off the old road and I sometimes drift right ’round and out of it. On Friday night with the Focus it was like ballet; so balanced. Just beautiful." There are a number of unique products developed specifically for the Focus including a front bump steer adjuster and rear adjustable control arms. The bump steer modification dramatically reduces corner entry understeer and improves overall cornering stability. The adjustable arms provide some much needed camber adjustment.
