Subject: "NSW WRX" Testing ALK & brace
Hi all
This weekend was very close in competition ,I had some very good runs with
Brendan H and Scotty P we were all pushing each other to the limit which
made it very competitive , I had made plans to also test some parts but
wasn't to concerned as the competition from before wasn't so close , well I
was in for a shock , BH had updated his GB to STI ratios , levelling the
playing field and we had many changes in fastest lap throughout the day ,
now I was behind and this was time to test some parts that were
controversial as I needed to be faster if I was to claim a first place .
I have been sceptical on the Whiteline Anti Lift Kit , I
felt that it
wouldn't help my car as it was set up reasonably well and would only work on
soft spring rates ,yet I wanted to test this for my self to see if it would
or would not work , + the new under body strut brace also bought out by
Whiteline , after others saying good things I felt it was something that I
needed to test on the track for myself as turn
in is always going to be a good thing on a rex .
After many runs , adjusting my suspension to get the most
from the little
grip we had from a cold track and no sun and I was 3rd in class driving
harder than ever before and not at the pointy end it was time to fit the
under body strut brace , fitted and ready I found it has much sharper
response to fast steering inputs , and yes it was faster on the stop watch
by 2-3 tenths , this might not sound so much but at the pointy end it was a
huge gain .
Still behind in my class I needed to go faster , so I
Remove my hard bush
and fitted the Anti Lift kit ,a very quick alignment and out I went , after 4
laps it was hard to feel much of a change , but the stop watch showed around
4tenths faster , there were some corners that you could tell it was less
push on power out of a corner , .It allowed me to hit the power just a
slight bit earlier , I then did a true alignment with my string line and I'm
sure had I been allowed out for another run I would have found a bit more .
It works so slight it is almost not something you can feel , but the stop
watch shows it does work . You might be saying I was driving it harder and
that was the time found , anyone who was there would have seen that I was
driving 110% on the limit all day as second or third wasn't an option .
So it does work , I still think now some more changes to
my ride hight ,
bump and rebound will find more from it .
