Subject: My WRX and S2000 handle beautifully now - thanks
Hi guys
As Wojtek may remember I recently had your chassis braces, anti-lift kit and swaybars fitted to my MY00 WRX. It is running R-compound tyres. The car is otherwise standard. It has no engine, exhaust or brake mods(aside from XXXXXX pads) and still has standard springs and shocks. I set the rear swaybar to maximum stiffness.
I have just completed a Peter Finlay racing drivers' course. The instructors who drove the car commented spontaneously on its handling and grip. From the passenger seat it was awesome. At the end of the two day course there was a single qualifying lap and 5 lap race from a standing start. On the short course at Oran Park the car clocked 53.06 seconds and this was by no means its best lap of the day. From pole position it went on to win the race by around 10 seconds from machinery and drivers that by all rights should have blown it away. This is despite being slower than almost everything else on the straight.
The handling is nothing like it was before and the car is far kinder to its front tyres. I'm very impressed with what such seemingly minor mods have achieved, though if anything I would like a little more roll stiffness in the rear.
I also had the opportunity to run the S2000 for a few laps yesterday. Wojtek recently did the alignment for me. It too is much improved with very keen turn in and good balance. Power oversteer is now available at will (and only at will) and is very controllable. My previous understeer problems have been banished.
Regards,
Adam
